Frequently Asked Questions
Here at Maverick Musicals and Plays, we are 100% digital which means no more waiting for the snail-mail to deliver your products, plus expensive postage fees! Not only is this better for the environment but it also means you can access your play or musical immediately after purchase!*
Below you will find answers to some questions you may have. If you find that you have a question that has not been answered here, please contact us and we will answer your question as quickly as we can!
Yes, all of our productions have a complimentary sample available. Simply go to that production's product page and select the "Add Free Sample Title to Cart" button.
For musicals you'll receive up to half of the script, some MP3 song files and sheet music from the piano score. For plays you'll receive a good sample of the script including cast list and author's notes.
That's the great thing about Maverick being digital - as soon as your payment has cleared, your order is processed. You will receive an email confirming your order with a 'Download' button, along with access to the play or musical through your Maverick account under the 'Downloads' tab. It's so easy!
Your play or musical will be available in 'Your Account' as digital downloads as well as the email you'll receive. Please note - unless it is for the Drama Resource DVDs, we do not supply any physical materials any more. This saves you postage and handling and means you can start rehearsing immediately.
Be sure to save the downloads to an easily accessible folder on your desktop computer as most titles have a download limit of two times.
Yes, charitable performances are treated in the same way as any performance, so please include these details too when providing your performance dates.
The Copying Fee gives you the right under Copyright Law to distribute a copy of the script and materials to every cast and crew member. Once you have purchased the Copying Fee included in the Basic or Deluxe Package, or from the 'Select a Package' drop-down menu, that gives you the right to give a copy of the script and/or score and music to every cast and crew member. The Copying Fee is valid for the performance season you have announced dates for. If you are performing a show for an additional season, and/ or have different cast and crew members, you will need re-purchase the Copying Fee so you are covered for that specific performance season.
The Copying Fee also needs to be purchased if you are using a show for the purpose of group studies where each person in said group is given a copy of the material. This may be for anything from a book club to study material for students, to a rehearsed reading.
Recordings are permitted for schools and groups making a reference only, and provided at no cost (for the price of the blank video/CD/DVD) to cast members, and attract no Copyright charges.
However, if the recordings are sold for profit, a forty per cent fee is payable on the price charged for each recording. Please email your request for filming permission and advise if you intend to sell copies for profit. We have no objection to the taking of photographs, and invite you to share them with others on our website!
The authors' name/s must be displayed clearly on all production material and on all posters and programs.
The endorsement "Produced with the permission of Maverick Musicals and Plays www.maverickmusicals.com" must be displayed on posters, and programmes in a suitable position.
The simple answer to that is emphatically, no.
A writer/ composer names their work according to how they feel best presents their musical or play. They put their heart and soul into creating the work, and this must be respected.
Most of our musicals and plays are recognisable (some are multi-award winners, some are famous!) so changing the name of a show would drastically affect what your audience's perception of it is.
This of course does not apply if you have translated the work into a different language, but it must translate to the same title.
